Recently, a friend shared with me an abridged version of the movie “The Neighbors’ Window”, which won the Oscar Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 2020. The creator of the abridged version added a Chinese poem at the end.

Is the poem related to Veronica? Perhaps not … I just wanted to include this poem in one of the flower stories, and when I looked through the gallery of photos, Veronica somehow stood out as the one. I planted it in June 2020, near the peony and bearded irises, both old-timers in the garden and both at their peak bloom. From the angle I took the photo, though, Veronica’s upright gesture seemed to have dimmed the vibrance of peony and bearded irises into the background.
