Notes and stories:

In summer 2020, I bought three Encore Azaleas from Home Depot online, each having a different flower color - red, pink and white. When they first arrived, there were no flowers and it took some time for them to settle down in their new home. According to the information on the website, “Encore Azaleas are the world's best-selling reblooming azalea with rich, colorful blooms in spring, summer and fall”. In the fall, all three azaleas finally blossomed, although only a couple of flowers on each one. For unknown reasons, these lonely flowers tried to hide behind or below the thick small leaves, making it difficult to take a good photo.

Besides the long blooming season, encore azaleas are evergreen bushes. In the middle of a cold winter in New England, they offer a bit of green color in the yard and hope for the spring to come soon.

but climbing high on Yongpyon's hills,
there I'll pick azalea flowers,
armfuls of purple, just to spread
along the pathways as you go.
