Notes and stories:

One day last summer, I saw a small caterpillar on the newly planted butterfly milkweed, happily eating away the leaves. In the evening, while exchanging gardening tips with a local friend, I casually mentioned to her my discovery. She got very excited and exclaimed: “That’s a baby monarch butterfly!”

Following her instructions, I learned to raise the caterpillar and watched it turn into a chrysalis in slow motion. In the next ten days, the chrysalis hung itself on the bug net, motionless, while its color gradually changed from light green to black.

Then on a sunny morning, a beautiful monarch butterfly emerged from the chrysalis, just like a miracle. As soon as I opened the bug net, the butterfly leaped out. It flew high and above, quickly disappearing into the blue sky. Life is a miracle, isn’t it?
